Finding auspicious days…

Method: a day is listed only when the traditional almanac (Tung Shing) names this event among its auspicious activities and not among its inauspicious ones — the same calendar computation as our daily almanac. Lucky hours are the day’s yellow-path hours. For reference only; no personal BaZi or other star rules are added.

How Chinese Date Selection Works

How this page picks auspicious days

This finder follows the traditional Chinese almanac (Tung Shing / Huangli). For the event and month you choose, it computes each day’s almanac and lists a day only when the event appears among that day’s auspicious activities and not among its inauspicious ones. Those lists come from the day’s stem-and-branch pair, the Twelve Day Officers, the yellow- and black-path duty gods and the classical roster of stars — the same computation as our daily almanac, so “Full almanac” on any day shows the matching entry.

Lucky hours are the day’s yellow-path hours — the hours the almanac page marks as auspicious. No personal BaZi, house orientation or other rules are added; treat the result as a cultural reference, and have a date-selection master check major events against the people’s own charts if you wish.

Which almanac entry matches your event?

The almanac uses classical activity names: a wedding is 嫁娶, an engagement 訂盟 (or the betrothal gifts, 納采), moving house is 移徙 and the first night in a new home 入宅, opening a business is 開市, signing a contract 立券, breaking ground 動土 and travel 出行. The burial entry 破土 means digging a grave and is different from construction’s 動土.

What is a clash day?

Every day’s earthly branch opposes one zodiac sign (Rat–Horse, Ox–Goat, Tiger–Monkey, Rabbit–Rooster, Dragon–Dog, Snake–Pig). Tradition advises that sign against holding its own major events that day. Select the signs of the people involved and the finder moves those days to a separate “skipped” line.

Date Selection · FAQ

How do I find an auspicious date?
Choose the event (wedding, moving house, business opening and more) and a month. The finder lists that month’s days the almanac marks as auspicious for it, with the lucky hours; select zodiac signs to skip days that clash with them. It is free and needs no signup.
Is a “yellow-path day” always good for my event?
Not necessarily. A yellow-path day only means the day’s duty god is one of the six auspicious ones. Whether a day suits a particular event depends on whether the almanac lists that event as auspicious, which is what this finder checks.
How accurate is it?
It computes the traditional almanac exactly, day by day, and matches our daily almanac. It is a good first pass; a professional date selector would also weigh the people’s own BaZi charts. The almanac is a cultural tradition, so let practical considerations decide major plans.
